I/O modules

What is an I/O module?

An I/O module is a component of automation technology. I/O stands for input and output. The module receives signals from sensors, converts them for the controller and passes them on as signals/commands to actuators such as motors. Between input and output is a central control unit such as a PLC (programmable logic controller). However, this can only read digital signals. The I/O module converts the signals so that the controller and machine can communicate with each other.

What is an I/O module used for?

An I/O module is used in industrial automation, for example: it connects the sensors and actuators to the control level.
