What is a DC-DC converter?

A DC-DC converter, also known as a DC-DC converter, is a device for converting DC voltage into another DC voltage with a different voltage level. The output voltage can be higher, lower or inverted to the input voltage. A DC-DC converter is a power converter, just like a rectifier or inverter.

What is a DC-DC converter used for?
